Every year on April 2nd the world “lights up blue” to increase awareness about autism.

In 2010 Liam Topping of the Topping family, as of then 3-years-old  was diagnosed with autism. Outside of this devastating news, it didn’t take long for the Topping family (Harry, Susan, Liam, Miles, and Harry III aka Trey) to jump into action and start fighting this increasingly prevalent condition. New Rate of Autism 1 in 68 as of (March 2014), According to the CDC, Autism spectrum disorder is now diagnosed in 1 in every 68 children, making it the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S. “The newest survey reports on autism prevalence are staggering. In the 1970’s autism affected 1 in every 10,000.”  On April 2nd, the world joins together to “light it up blue.” Thousands of iconic landmarks and buildings join the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities around the world to “light blue” in support of people living with autism. You can put blue lights outside your home or just wear blue in support. The Topping Brothers and Autism Speaks SCV are working to raise awareness about autism and raise money to fund the fight!

We happened upon these posts on other families dealing with Autism. In an effort to increase awareness, we recommend reading some of these blog posts of others in the fight against disorder. Check them out, on Healthline

The Topping Brothers raise money for those struggling with autism now. Scholarships for therapy that some families might not be able to afford. While supporting Autism Speaks is our main goal at this point. We are planning a foundation with longer term battle plans such as providing scholarships for families that cannot afford the therapies that are available.
